Minister Kruah Inspects CSquared Metro-fiber Deployment

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah had a one day inspection tour of CSquared Metro Fiber deployment in Monrovia which is expected to provide reliable and affordable internet services for all Liberians.

CSquared is a broadband infrastructure company that is building a 200KM of metro fiber around Monrovia.

The West Africa Regional Manager of CSquared, Madam Estelle Akofio Sowah
explained through a PowerPoint presentation to the Post Master General, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah Sr.; including Asst. Minister of Planning, Research & Statistic, Mr. Cyrus Kamara, The Chief Information Officer (CIO), Mr. Sekou Kromah, the Program Management Officer (PMO), Mr. James Sulonteh and other staffs of the Ministry that the Metro Fiber line will provide an easy access to all Liberians at affordable price.

She also indicated that, CSquared is in Liberia to provide affordable access to information communication which is also a basis for Human Rights especially where only 7% of Liberians at the moment has access to the internet and 60% of the population is under the age of 24 that also need access to the internet.

She demonstrated how CSquared is a champion of shared infrastructure and known for the role of providing technological platform to service provider that will in turn offer services to other licensed entities, end-users, Internet Service Provider( ISP) and mobile operators.

“Transforming metros is what we need to do with modern cities”, she added.

During that meeting, the Post Master General, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah Sr. was also concern to know the percentage of work CSquared has done in Monrovia.

Madam Estelle Akofio Sowah informed Minister Cooper W. Kruah Sr. that they have built 50Km fiber ring around Monrovia but they are expecting to complete 200KM fiber line beyond to connect 100 sites including government buildings towers, educational institutions, Health Centers and businesses, which is a joint effort of the Government of Liberia, CSquared, and USAID”.

At the end of the tour, Minister Kruah appreciated the management of CSquared and stated that, “This is in line with our Pro Poor Agenda of the Liberian Government and the ministry is looking forward to see all Liberians using affordable internet service”.

Over L$15 Billion Outside Banking System


[Observer] The acting chairman of the Board of Governors and incoming Executive Governor of CBL, Nathaniel Patray, has revealed that Liberian dollar banknotes outside the banking system amount to about L$15,242,000,000 (fifteen billion, two hundred forty-two million Liberian dollars).
